Hot House Jazz Guide Announcement
BERNSTEIN...continued from page 2always seems to create a definitive version of a tune, one that intersects gracefully between an unapologetic affection for the original song, and his own personal musical choices for the arrangement." Peter is equally definitive in his rendering of his own tunes. "With my tunes, I feel like I just gotta play them," he says. "If I don't, nobody else will get them out there. With this album I knew we could do the new material even at the risk of recording before ready." That new material is presented with the variety Peter strives for during a set at a live gig. The album includes some tunes that reflect directly on the pandemic situation, such as the haunting ballad "Empty Streets," conjuring a view of New York as a ghost town, and the title blues waltz.Peter Bernstein's livestream release party is set for Oct. 16-17, from Smoke Jazz Club & Lounge.
