Hot House Jazz Guide Announcement
MIKE LeDONNEMEZZROW / JUNE 12; JAZZ FORUM / JUNE 23-24A double-threat keyboardist, Mike LeDonne is equally at home on the piano and the Hammond B-3 organ. In his four-plus decades as a working musician, he’s amassed an incredibly wide resumé of credits, working with swing, bop and post-bop musicians, from Roy Eldridge and Benny Goodman to Sonny Rollins and Milt Jackson. Playing organ as well as piano since he was 10 years old, Mike has made good use of his vintage Hammond B-3, which was the house organ at the jazz club Smoke for years. For the last 14, he has led his Groover (organ) Quartet at Smoke on Tuesday nights. He’s bringing the same band to these gigs, with Eric Alexander, tenor sax; Peter Bernstein, guitar; Kenny Washington, drums, and an additional horn TBA. He plays piano at Mezzrow, with John Webber on bass and Jason Tiemann on drums. GK.
