Andrew Cyrille | Village Vanguard | Aug 5-10 and Aug 12-16 for Bill Frisell
The Andrew Cyrille Quartet represents the meeting of four distinct voices in modern jazz. Andrew Cyrille, a groundbreaking drummer and a pivotal figure in avant-garde jazz, leads this ensemble with his inventive and lyrical approach to rhythm. Joining him is Bill Frisell, one of the most innovative guitarists in contemporary music, known for his genre-defying soundscapes. David Virelles, an acclaimed pianist celebrated for blending Cuban influences with modern jazz, brings depth and complexity to the group’s sound. On bass, Ben Street provides a solid and imaginative foundation, contributing his versatile musicianship to the quartet’s interplay. Together, these musicians explore a dynamic range of jazz that spans tradition and innovation, creating a compelling musical dialogue.
