The 14th Annual Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition is open for registration as part of NJPAC’s TD James Moody Jazz Festival. Solo vocalists worldwide, aged 18+, and unsigned by major labels can apply by September 2, 2025, at SarahVaughanCompetition.com. Finalists will perform live at NJPAC on November 23, 2025, judged by jazz icons including Christian McBride and Nnenna Freelon, with prizes up to $5,000. Inspired by jazz legend Sarah Vaughan’s 1942 Apollo Theater win, The SASSY Awards spotlight tomorrow’s stars. Presented by NJPAC and TD Bank, it’s a premier platform for jazz excellence.

💫 Forever Happy: A Celebration of Danny Bacher | Mon, Jun 10 – 7:00pm | Birdland Jazz Club | With satin-smooth vocals, irrepressible swing, and a soprano sax that danced like a smile, Danny Bacher brought boundless joy and brilliance to jazz audiences everywhere. On June 10, the Birdland Jazz Club will host a heartfelt tribute, celebrating the life and legacy of this extraordinary artist.

Danny tragically passed away on December 16, 2024, of an apparent heart attack, leaving behind a grieving jazz community, family, and friends. Known for his generosity, infectious spirit, and dedication to uplifting others, Danny’s legacy lives on through the music and love he shared.

Join us to honor his memory and ensure his bright spirit endures.
